The Studious Brat March 31, 2008

I had a rocky time at the exam desk today, that goes not in praise I must point out here.

It’s about time to change the title of this weblog…because judging by my current academic records, if I were to force even close to the truth, I would say, that, only a kind of unearthly fool would think that I’m anything of a genius.

Quite embarrassingly, ridiculously and highly suspiciously, my friends see an academic growth chart of mine quite different in slope from what my view-count chart shows me on WordPress (which has been on constant rise I must say).

Hmm…with such failure to stick to commitments, I wonder how long the new title would last now. Must come up with something not even close to reality or its (under) projections. Tough task!

I remember in sunnier days and times, back in First Year, I would sit on the last bench of the class with a very “neat and clean” dude. Judging by my interest in the lectures, Mr. Spotlessly Clean would advise very friendlily “I think you should have gone to a better college”, he said. I was naive, living a journey one day at a time, and I very arrogantly shrugged it off. It’s only now that I realize what he really meant. Thank you for all the advice dude.

I have many choices to regret, and much to look forward to, simultaneously so. Hell, can anyone be more confused than I am?!

MTV Roadies 5.0 March 22, 2008

Sonel was looking really goofy with her Red-Riding-Hood dance. I haven’t seen people behave like this since I left High School.

Sneha, aka Uncleji, hehe, got voted out. He just wasn’t what I was looking for in a Roadie anyway. So it’s good he’s gone now. Who can forget his striptease?

Then went Prabhjot, whom I think sadly was somewhat deserving because she had given so much effort for her ‘Immunity’. But I’m glad that the fighting’s over now.

So who’s gonna win and who’s gonna loose? I’m all set to know too!

Ciao.

Who invented Hello Tunes? I did!

I got a call from Airtel advertising its Hello Tunes and background music was playing. I remember when I was 9 or 10 years old I would call up people randomly entering numbers on my phone and play music in the background holding the receiver close to the speaker and say nothing at all. In retrospect I think I unknowingly invented Hello Tunes back then!
That’s a joke okay.

Ayn Rand: Philosophy who Needs it? March 18, 2008

I’ve gone half way through Ayn Rand’s philosophical work ‘Philosophy who needs it’.
Very interesting read.
The central idea here is that the modern world is in a constant state of internal conflict. The conflict is not motivational but ideological, and philosophical. It is a clash of two philosophies that of Kant and that of Aristotle. The Aristotalean philosophy is given a thumbs up and that of Kant an insulting exposure. Kant’s philosophy is given the authoritarian dictatorial and ruthless painting whereas Aristotle’s philosophy is painted as liberal and life-friendly ‘live and let live’.
In her work, she believes in objectivism. That there is a fixed reality and that your senses lead you to better understand this reality in terms of concepts and intangible facts. That philosophy is a way of life and not a duty like religion. That we have full freedom to choose our philosophy.
The conclusion nevertheless is that the ideal existense should be as close to the American thought process as possible. I kind of had a feeling that that conclusion was to follow anyway. Most of our current actions, anyway, are proof of our apeing the west. She even goes on to say that a person’s words can be decoded to interpret their real intentions. That even jokes must often be taken seriously to crack the verbal code and hence lead to real intentions.
Heavy reading but insightful.

Home at last and in my room checking e-mail. Life!

It’s very unfortunate that I missed the Flower Show 2008 in Gangtok while I was still in Sikkim. Maybe next time. Sigh.

Anyway, I have lots to catch up to now that I’m back home. Shopping, eating, movies, family, friends and yes how can I forget – blogging! That reminds me, I’ve brought some of my note books along, so will I study? Let’s see! ;)

Blog Growth

Yesterday I tried out a PING service online and today when I checked my blog stats I was shocked to see I was bombarded with a heavy influx of visitors to this blog. So those things do work huh! Neat! But these hints and tricks and tips to ace up your traffic deserve a separate post. Will do that later for you all. At this rate of growth, I forecast a 10000 + Pop Index within the coming twelve months. Will I prove myself wrong? I don’t think so.

It’s about sitcoms these days. Friends may be a thing of the past, but there’s a whole lot more now.
First I watched up all of Heroes series, then Numbers, and now I’m tuned into The Joey Show. Sad that it isn’t otherwise part of Indian TV. The net makes a lot possible.

Legend of the Crystal Skull Save Game Files March 9, 2008

When my game stops working in between, I do some fancy techno stuff to get a working save game file if I haven’t saved already. I have working save game files and I’m willing to share them. If I see an e-mail in the comments, I’m going to send it over. I’m going to give away the file for the time in the game when you come across a ‘BUG’ in the game at Bess’ along with the mini food van because I know the bug hasn’t been taken care of so I am helping.
