Pretty White Parrots: A Diary Entry June 13, 2008

Bought a white parrot couple, a male and a female, yesterday. They’re SO cute! I took them out of their cage today and let them free in my room with the door locked so they wouldn’t escape, had a really fun time playing around with them for that time. Then I caught them again and put them back in their cage. I had to face their painful bites while handling them – ouch! They take regular naps, during which the female has the peculiar habit of digging her face into her feathers. The male replies back to bird calls from outside. They’re adorable!

Driving class was good, but Delhi’s road scene still has me nervous to venture out by myself.

Saw “I Shouldn’t be Alive” on Discovery Channel in the afternoon. Two white men become stranded on a deserted island surviving on hunting for food and cactus juice for their water intake, until luck takes a twist and a boat finds them on their fourth day and takes them home. They tackled extreme desert heat, dehydration and hallucinations, dysfunction of the brain.

Priyam read me my fortune with his numerology tricks today. My date of birth makes me a number 2, my lucky color is white, my heavenly body is Moon, lucky stone is pearl. He also read me my personality traits to which I had the option of saying True/False just so he knows how accurate it is. It’s kind of weird how I’ve been told different things at different times about all this. Sometimes the books tell me it’s Mars, coral, and sea greens, and now it’s Moon, pearl and white. How confusing!

Currently…

Reading: 1) Five Point Someone – my Dad insisted I get a hold of this one, but otherwise I have no affinity for Chetan Bhagat’s work. The 35 pages I read of it, I found it mediocre. Won’t be touching the rest of his works.

2) Insomnia by Stephen King

Listening to: 1) Doesn’t Really Matter by Janet Jackson
2) 4 minutes by Madonna/Justin Timberlake/Timbaland

Driven Divinity June 7, 2008

My driving instructor may have freaked out the other day, but today I got complemented for my brisk progress on the course. “Just 3 days and more progress than you have done in so much time”, he pointed out to an older student in the back seat. I had to try hard to resist a shy smile. Compliments, I must confess, make me float in mid air, and that isn’t such a good idea when you’re learning to tackle traffic on a tiny and crowded Delhi street.

Vacation While June 6, 2008

Okay, so I’m finally learning to drive this vacation. Hmm not as hard as I thought, I guess I underestimate myself. In fact, driving is fun! The instructor although, almost had it with me on a sharp turn today, I could have sensed his fear. I could be dangerous too – and I never knew it!

Went to CP, Janpath, Palika, Tibetan Market and so on. I’m keen on joining another course this summer, one on garment manufacturing. I asked the lady if I could have two western style dresses ready by the end of two months. She said, “pant/shirt is not a piece of cake, we have second year students learning that, you should have a Ghagra-Choli ready though.” How do I explain to her that isn’t what I’m looking for! Ugh!

When I came home this time I spotted a new trend in home decor/toys – gellatin balls! These come in tiny diameter balls like caviar – only harder, and a bunch of them packed together in different colors. Just dip them in water and watch them grow to several times their size! I’ve had the prettiest time playing around with these. Bought blue, purple and plain colored packets recently. I’m such a kid!

I take this opportunity to officially launch my web design portfolio: RohitGadi.com

It took weeks of planning and many sleepless nights but I’m really glad it’s up and running finally! I made it all on my own including the flash work.
